Bad weather

It sleeted all day on Sunday so me and my humans stayed in and
watched football. It was cozy and warm. I wish every winter day could be like this.

Snow business!

This dog is having so much fun. I am going to try to learn to jump like that this winter!

Wonderful weekend

I had a great weekend with my people. On Saturday one human took me for a jog, and then we went to the dog park. Yesterday we all went to Prospect Park bright and early as a family--it was awsome. There were tons of dogs there and I got to say hi to a lot of them.

Last night we went into to city to visit some of our pack...but first we went to see my friend Mia! We played in the park across from my old house, then we played with her toys in her apartment. We made her place pretty messy! There is also a new cat who lives with her--it was so small I wanted to smell it, but I wasn't allowed. Maybe next time.

Happy birthday!

This week was one of the human's birthdays! We all laid around in bed while he opened his present. I forgot to get him something, but I have a great gift in mind for Christmas--hopefully that will make up for it.

It snowed that morning too, so I got to wander in our backyard in the snow after we all woke up. It wasn't as fun as I remember from last winter, but the humans said there will probably be more soon. Maybe that batch will be better.

Dogs I've never met

This weekend one of my humans went far away to a place called North Carolina. She hung around with two dogs while she was there. A little dog named Maggie:

and a big dog named Boston. She thinks I would have liked them, and I would have liked their back yard too. Instead of going with her (not that she asked) I stayed home with the other human. I got a lot of exercise and we even played fetch in the snow. But I was glad when we were all home together again.

Turkey and more

Happy thanksgiving everybody! I had a great time riding in the car, visiting my packs, getting extra belly rubs, and eating a lot of yummy food. I hope you did the same thing.

Last week me and one of the humans went to the dog run one night--I had so much energy I was bouncing all over the place!

Then we went for a walk down to the river. I really like walking this way home--it's the longer way, but it's a nice view of my city.

I think I look pretty good in this light, too, don't you?

Holiday time

One of my humans thought it would be funny if there was a picture of my on their holiday cards this year. So we tried a few things. First, I tried to pose with Santa...but I kept wanting to chew on him.

So then we tried ribbons on my ears. There are no pictures of that. I don't like ribbons on my ears.

Then we tried lights around my neck, like I was decorating the house and got all tangled up. This was better--much less annoying than the ribbons, and not as tempting as Santa.

But it is very hard

to stay

still.

I don't know if this modeling business is right for me. And who knows what sort of holiday cards people will get this year!

Riding in the Car to New Places

My humans know how to keep a secret. Today we got in the car and I thought we were just going to see our usual pack members. But we went to a whole new town, and I got to see my friend Lexi!!!!!!!!!!!

We played and played and played some more. I was so happy to see her. We ate some treats too.

I slept the whole way home.

A traveling weekend

We did a lot this weekend. Me and my friend Mia went in the car to New Jersey, to our park. It was really dark out when we went, and we were the only ones there for a long time. We saw two deer, and had our usual fun.

Then we went to see some other members of our pack up at their house--more riding in the car, which was great! We ate a lot of good stuff, and they had some good sunshine for napping.

Two Howl-idays

Yesterday was Halloween. There were a lot of kids who rang our doorbell, but as you can see I was busy busting ghosts and couldn't handle giving out treats.

And today is my third birthday. My humans gave me a dinner fit for, well, me. Real chicken, feta cheese, and string beans. One of the humans made a video of me eating it ("inhaling it," they say, whatever that means), but the camera ate it so no good viewing for you guys today! I hope you're all having days that are just as delicious as mine is...

Visitors

Some of my pack came to visit two weekends ago (I know, I'm late updating). They brought me these awesome treats--they were peanut butter flavored. We had fun--we took walks, and hung around the apartment. I got lots of pets. It was a very good weekend. I hope they can come back soon.....maybe with more treats for me too!

Polar bears and dogs

This is a pretty great story (with pictures!) about animals having fun together. I hope someday I get to play with a polar bear too!

Dogs can learn new tricks

Tonight me and one of the humans went to the dog park. While we were there, she sat on a picnic table, and a dog got up right on top to sit with her! I'd never seen that before--and that table looked pretty high.

But I ran over and stared and thought and paced. And then I jumped up ON TOP OF THE PICNIC TABLE TOO!! It was the coolest feeling. I did it a couple more times while we were there. I was pretty proud of myself, if I do say so. Not every dog can do that, you know (I'm looking at you, puggles!).

My dogwalker

He's famous! I hope he'll still remember me now that he's hit the big time. Actually, he just walked me today as usual, so I guess I don't have that much to worry about...

Between Two Bridges

Today me and one of the humans took a big walk to a new neighborhood. It's called DUMBO, I thought like the elephant, but she says that stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. Well, excuuuuse me. Anyway, we walked on all these old streets near the river, and right by the Brooklyn Bridge. There were all these big warehouses and not many people. There was one park they didn't even let dogs into. Gr!

Then we found another park near another bridge, the one the neighborhood is named for. It was really, really big.

I was pretty tired from walking all over the place by the time we got home. Fortunately, there was some fresh laundry to lay on, which was really quite lovely. It was a great day!

New park!

There is a new park in our neighborhood. Well, new to us. It's only about a five minute walk away. Me and one of the humans have gone there a couple times in the morning or after work so we can check it out. It's pretty good. I still like the big one better.

Old Friends are the Best

Today I got a big surprise--my friend Mia and her human came to visit us in Brooklyn!!!! (And Skipper's human came too--but Skipper isn't grown up enough to come yet so he had to stay home.) It was great. We played, we chased, and we ate some of these dog cupcakes (or maybe they're pup-cakes?):

After breakfast we went for a big walk around the neighborhood. We went over to the river even. I hope Mia can come again soon, or maybe we can go see her in our car. I miss my friend!

Triathlon weekend

Sorry I've been away for a while--the humans have been very busy! A perfect example of this was this weekend, when one of them did something called a triathlon. It meant getting up veeeery early, and driving to the beach, which I really liked.

There were a bunch of humans swimming in the water. So many of them!

Then they got out of the water and ran past us, and jumped onto bikes and raced away. I missed my human a lot--I just wanted to hang out with him.

Then they came back from riding their bikes, and started to just run away. I was pretty confused. But my human came back soon! I guess it wasn't good for him that he came back, but I was so happy to see him I didn't care.

It was only 10 am when we finished with all this, so it was just the start of our day. But I missed most of the rest of it: I slept in the car on the way home, and with the other human when we got back to our apartment. Triathlons are all well and good, but nothing beats sleep--I'm the champion of that!

Country dog

This weekend was a long weekend, so my humans and me went out to one of our other pack houses. It was beautiful--very sunny and not too hot. Perfect for those of us with fur coats. I was sort of tired after the drive out, so I caught some rays and some zzz's at the same time.

The next morning me and one of the humans went to the beach.

We walked along the shore and I got some quality splashing time in. That always puts me in a good mood!

That afternoon it was more swimming for me--in the pool this time, which is better because there are no waves to scare me. But the trade-off is they make me play fetch. I humor them for a while.

I also got a new bed this weekend for the other pack house. I was sleeping on the floor so this is a major improvement. It's huge!

Monday morning we explored a new small beach place down the street--the human says it's called a cove.

I was so tired from these adventures I slept the whole way home Monday afternoon. I wish weekends were every day. Or at least longer!

Bathing beauty

This weekend we went out to one of our other pack houses, where I can swim and swim, for an annual event called a fireman's chicken barbecue. Two years ago, this was the first human food my people gave me and I looooved it. I guess the rest is history.

Speaking of rest, I am feeling a little better, and thank you for the get-well wishes! I am still sneezing and coughing when I get excited, but not as bad as last week. I'm trying to get lots of sleep so I can get well faster. (And I just like to sleep.)

In the doghouse

My humans took me to my new vet today. They gave me treats. Unfortunately, they also said I probably have a mild form of kennel cough. I don't have to take any medicine, but they said it will take THREE WEEKS to go away and until then I can't play with, walk with, or even smell any other dogs. This is such a bummer. I'm never going to make any new friends at this rate!

The new dog run

Moving to a new neighborhood means you need to learn a lot of new things. Tonight me and one of the humans went on a walk to find the dog run that is closest to our new house. Here I am on the Brooklyn Heights promenade, with NYC in the background. Hi NYC!

It took us a while, but then over a hill we saw it--the dog run! It's really big!

There were some good dogs there, but I felt like being a loner today. So this is mostly what I did until it was time to leave. Maybe next time I'll be more social.

Also, I like the new dog walker. I barked at him a bit today when he showed up, just to see what he would do. But he toughed it out and turned out to be OK. I think we'll be friends.

New digs

Wow--it's been an overwhelming couple of weeks. First my humans went on vacation. Without me--can you believe that!? My old dogwalker Jeff stayed with me and we had a great time. I even lost a few pounds. Then when they came home they put everything we own into boxes. And then these strange guys came and took the boxes (I barked and barked at them) and brought them to this new place, where we are now staying. I am sort of confused by the whole thing, as you can see:
The next morning, it was a beautiful day. Me and the humans were up super-early and we went to a big park. I ran and ran and zoomed and zoomed. If you click on this photo to make it bigger, you'll see what I mean.
It was awesome! It even has a beach for dogs, which I went to a long time ago and still knew how to get to.
Today I went to my new dggie daycare place, Monster Mutt. My humans say it's appropriately named--har dee har har. Anyway, I spent all day playing with another chocolate lab named Mookie. When we got home, I laid down to nap and barely moved all night. Other than to write this post, of course.

Tomorrow is the first walk with my new walker, Dave. I'll let you all know how that goes!

Moving update

I am going to have a new dog walker when we move to Brooklyn: this guy. He looks nice, and my humans said he sounds nice, so we'll see. I get to meet him the day after we move. Hopefully we'll all be in a good mood for that.

In other news, we have a new camera at home, but the human has not yet learned how to put photos on the computer (sigh). So maybe soon this site will look less boring.

Baci-versary

Today it's two years since I came to live with my humans, after they found me at the pound. I can barely remember what I was like then--I feel so much more grown up and mature. I was definitely skinnier, that's for sure. And kind of scared.

I'm glad I'm here with my people now!

Lots of news!

There's been lots going on around here. First, you'll be glad to know a new camera is on the way. More photos of me and my adventures coming soon!

And second, my humans tell me we are moving house. I don't really know how I feel about this. I like our current house for a lot of reasons: the long hallway to play ball in, how I can find my way in the dark from one end to the other without bumping into anything, the short walk to the local dog park with pool, and of course seeing all my human and canine friends from around the neighborhood. The humans took me to the new place this past weekend to check it out. It seems nice enough, and there is a backyard which is cool, but I am going to reserve judgement until we really get there.

Also, I am going to have to write a new rap for the left-hand side of my page, since some of it won't apply anymore. Let me know if you have any rhyming suggestions!

Ooh lala!

Yesterday me and the humans walked all the way across town for the Bastille Day fair on east 60th street. A lot of strangers pet me, and I got to eat a sandwich of something called merguez. It was a little spicy for my palate, but that didn't stop me from chowing down!

More walking....more trouble

Yesterday me and one of the humans went for an early morning walk in Central Park. It was really nice out, and I got to see a bunch of dogs, and wander in the grass, and splash in fountains, and just enjoy being with nature. I didn't want to sit still to get my picture taken.

And then something happened today that made me feel bad about that: the camera broke. Me and the humans were out and about, and my water bottle opened up in the bag and soaked EVERYTHING. So now the camera won't work anymore. I guess for a little while this blog will have to be about my writing skills, and not about how cute I look. Hopefully they will get us a new camera soon!
